Heather Thompson Survives Domestic Violence

Heather Thompson, a mother of two girls now 17 and 19 respectively, was a victim of domestic violence in the hands of her ex-husband. It was 15 years ago when her ex-husband battered her almost to her death causing her to suffer from permanent injuries. Heather's ex-husband served time for beating her and was released from prison on Friday.

After what Heather went through with her ex-husband, her fear of his release is reasonable. In his letter to her which he wrote in jail, he said he's going to kill her and their children. I really don't understand why he didn't get a life sentence. Heather almost lost her life. There are times when she can't function well.

The Union City sheriff's department of North Carolina has provided Heather with plans when she feels threatened. You can read more of the story here.

Chan-Kah Resort Village

According to a Frommer's review:

Chan-Kah Resort Village is a grouping of comfortable, roomy bungalows that offer privacy and quiet in the surroundings of a tropical forest. The hotel is on the road between the ruins and the town, but because the town of Palenque isn't particularly worth exploring, you won't miss much by staying here. The grounds are beautifully tended, and there is an inviting pool that resembles a lagoon. A broad stream runs through the property. Some of the bungalows can have a musty smell. Christmas prices will be higher than those quoted here, and you may be quoted a higher price if you reserve a room in advance from outside the country. The outdoor restaurant and bar serves only passable Mexican food. Room service is pricey.

If you're planning a trip to Mexico don't forget to check this hotel. You might just like it. Check out their website for more details.
