As of writing, the market is down by 270 points. Ridiculous, right? But it is what it is.
So why did the stock market go down this much today? It is because of the nation's unemployment rate - which has gone up to 5.5% - the highest after 22 years. Be happy you have a job. If you're thinking of quitting your job, think twice unless you know you have somewhere else to go. You may be on unemployment for a while.
We see it on TV, read on the papers or online, or heard on the radio --- homeowners continue to lose their houses, bills becoming delinquent and companies either filing for bankruptcy or cutting down jobs. Times are tough. So hold on to whatever job you have.
The light at the end of the tunnel isn't showing yet. Early next year the unemployment rate is expected to climb to 6%. So hold on tighter. This is not definitely going to be a fun ride.
